Week in the Life: Never in vain

National Youth Leaders Summit 2014, January 28-29

It was a fun week this week. I attended the National Youth Leaders Summit held at ICS from Tuesday to Wednesday. It started after lunch but was able to arrive after my work at ICI. The summit gathered regional/district youth and Chi Alpha leaders from our movement. I always love these gatherings because I get to catch up with friends and co-laborers in the youth ministry. I was told that during the first session where each gave updates and testimonies about what God is doing in their place, that most of them shared about how they are reaching students through Chi Alpha. Too bad I missed it, but it's touching to know that the work we invested a few years back are now yielding harvest. And we will not stop, the work continues until more campuses are reached with the gospel through Chi Alpha.

Chi Alpha Grand Picnic, January 31

One of the highlights of the event was our lunch picnic
overlooking the manmade lake.
On the Friday Chinese New Year holiday our local Chi Alpha UBelt had a fun day picnic at Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife in Quezon City. The event started at 9, but we arrived around 10 because we had to cook additional food for the picnic. And turns out that we made a good decision because some of the student didn't bring lunch. I am happy for a lot of things. We were able to gather not only the mainstay students from our Friday student service, but I also got to meet their friends who are part of their DGroups whom I have never met before. I'm also happy because I just sat on the sidelines, watching our student leaders lead the whole event. They have put so much work into this that some of them lack sleep the night before, but they keep on going. Of course the picnic was not just picnic but we had lots of games, food and fun.

Today, we were also blessed to hear a very powerful testimony from Darrell and Sherri Beebe at ICS. The Beebes were former missionaries to Palau in the Pacific, and during their service in the 80s, their family suffered horrible attack. A group of people attacked their home, beat them, abused the mother and the daughter, and left them for dead. But God didn't allow these things to break their faith, the father experienced a miracle healing on flight to Hawaii for a life-threatening head injury. Over time God also restored their family. They also got to meet one of their attackers after two decades and were able to release forgiveness to them. Now this is the message that they take all over the world, sharing the power of forgiveness through Christ and the healing that He gives to every believer. Listening to their story I was praising God for His love that truly conquers a multitude of sins. It also stirred my heart to serve in missions in the future. If you want to know more about the Beebes you can check out their website at www.2b4giving.com

Reflecting on these experiences I am reminded by the verse that says, "your work in the Lord is not in vain" (1Co 15:58). This is so true. Whatever you do in service for the Lord will never be a waste of your time and resources. A life offered to Him He will cause to be multiplied to more souls.
