When Life Interrupts Your Plans

There was once a guy who was engaged to a beautiful lady. He loved her so much and he dreamt of the day when they are going to finally start a family of their own. But a few weeks left before the big day, he found out that his fiance got pregnant! Certainly not by him. What would you do if you were on his shoes? Many thought she deserved to be humiliated for what she had done. But being a good and decent man, he decided to break off the wedding quietly. Even though it was like a dagger in his heart, he still thought about her welfare, and the child she now carries. What happens when life throws a wrench in your plans?

The man had everything planned out. Get married, build a family, and live happily ever after. But God had a different plan. Joseph the Carpenter found himself in the middle of God's handiwork--a major work in progress that will change the course of history. "An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21). When you feel like God is "invading your personal space" know this:

You have plans, but God knows what's best for you.
Sometimes we take hold of our lives as if we're sure what happens tomorrow. Solomon says, "many are the plans of a man's heart, but it's God's will that prevails." When you look around you, it's easy to understand that we don't have control over lots of things. But "God works for the good of those who love Him." God knows and wants the best for you. Have you entrusted your life to Him?

God's interruptions are actually doors of opportunity.
Time and again, God reaches out to people to take part in His grand plan. Joseph's obedience meant the salvation of many through Jesus. You may see it life's turns as interruptions, but God sees it as an opportunity--an opportunity for you to grow, learn, and be an instrument of blessing in His hand. It may be difficult to look away from our own discomfort, but it has its rewards. You may be the miracle another person needs.

There is no better place than to be in the center of God's will.
A wise dead guy once said, "God made us for Himself, and our hearts are restless until it finds rest in Him." Whatever you're chasing after is a mirage that will still leave you thirsty for something more. Jesus said, "Those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again." God doesn't hide, He wants to be found. And if you seek His will for your life, it will be the best decision you've ever made. Call on Him today.
